New Year, New Image, New You!

Happy New Year! We hope your new year is starting out Healthy and Joyful. Starting out a New Year brings many opportunities for change. It is a New Year, a chance for new beginnings, and there is no better way to start it out than with a New Image.

Taking time to create a fresh new look to compliment your face shape and hair texture can be exciting and will assure that your first impression is perfect! Take into account that time spent on your hair and makeup should not take up a lot of time. Consider letting a more natural softer style be your goal.

Start the new year by scaling down your product inventory. Be realistic when disposing of your over stocked products. Whether it is hair care, body care, or makeup you probably have many items that have not been used at all this last year or for many years. Try taking baby steps and remove any products that are half full, but have not been used for a year or more.

Consider letting go of a dated look, or just modify the one you may have had for many years. Wearable looks have a big presence in today's fashion. Hair accessories are great way's to add something that is fun and inspiring. Everything form sporty headbands to blooming flower's to feather's are being added to hair styles.

Whatever way you decide to change your look this season you need to take something old and turn it into something new!

Holiday Style

We have all witnessed a party where someone out shined the Christmas tree or Hanukkah bush. At times you probably even turned down invitations to parties because of having nothing to wear or not having a good hair day, either way we all know that the holiday seasons are full of times that you can either shine or outshine and have a possible fashion tragedy.

Let's first talk about the clothes to consider wearing, or not wearing for a holiday party. It never fails that you show up in a glamorous dress and others are in business attire. Or you show up in casual jeans and everyone else wears satin and velvet. Trying to decide what to wear by the guidance of the invitation can be tricky. What really does "Dress Casual" mean? Or "Holiday Attire", is that sparkles, velvet, red shades, silver, or gold? This is wear a elegant black dress and some red lipstick can work for everything. Keeping a few dressy basics will allow you to re-wear items and re invent them by changing up accessories. Not feeling comfortable in a black dress…then invest in a great pair of black pants!

Everyone waits till the holiday season to break out the bling. By adding metallic's and shimmer get's everyone in the mood. While waiting for the opportunity to wear glitz one may get a little anxious and once the time comes they go over board. Wearing too much sparkle can be a fashion risk especially if you wear it in the an area that you do not need to bring attention to, like a beaded top or bottom that you may not want to bring attention to. You may want to save the glitz and shimmer with accessories: a beaded purse, sparkly shoes or a hint of glitter eye shadow can go a long way. One of the best ways to add a holiday look is to add shades of sparkle to your eyes or lips. Face powder that has shimmer can also be added to your complete your holiday look.

Hair is always better when professionally styled. Make the investment to get a blow out prior to an event and you will feel more confident that from every angle you look great. This is a time to go for something more elegant which typically you cannot create on your own.

Fall, Winter...and Dry, Fly-A-Way Frizzies!

As the season transition from Fall to Winter you may start noticing that your hair is also changing.

Everything from dry split ends, static electricity, and dry frizzy hair. The environment can create very damaging effects on your hair not only in summer but also winter. People typically are aware of the summer damages, but for winter you need to think of adding moisture.

Many things add to the lack of moisture. Consider that you are being exposed to indoor heating for long periods of time. Many people do not have a humidifier attached to their heating system. If you do have a humidifier you also need to make some adjustments to the amount of moisture by re setting the dial to the appropriate outside temperature.

Taking protective measures by using more leave in conditioners, and leave in balms, along with anti humectants, and using a moisturizing conditioning treatment will help protect your hair from winter damage. Salon Deep conditioning moisturizing treatments under a dryer will allow the moisture to penetrate deeper into the cuticle layers. These types of replenishing treatments will protect your hair from the havoc Winter weather can have on your hair.

Doyle Designed Hair Care line supports this effort with products like "Healthy Hair Complex" a leave in spray with botanicals that help with detangling and can be used daily to infuse moisture and help with static electricity. Another leave in spray is " Strong and Smooth" contains proteins to make the hair stronger and less brittle. The other product that is beneficial is the new "Elixir" which is a conditioning balm that helps to smooth out frizzy hair and increase manageability and shine.

Go to our site and click on "products" to find out more about our product line. We are now accepting orders and payments via Pay Pal! Fall Fashion & Color Trends

As Fall begins it journey through the changing of colors of the canvas of nature the same is happening in the fashion world. Some of the colors in clothing we are seeing this fall are Royal Blue, Deep Orange, Peach, Dark Teal, Deep Rust Red, Mustard Yellow, and Turquoise. All of them supported by coordinate of Black. Hair color and make up trends aim to accent these shades. Hair color has more Golden shades for Blondes, Vibrant Crimson Reds, and Deeper and Darker shades of Brown and Black.

Makeup also follows suit. Deeper lip colors in shades of Cherry Red, Deep Purple in more matte textures. Smokey eyes are still making a statement but now with more Brown tones. Green eye shadow is also being seen along with exaggerated eye liner. If those colors are too bold for you or just do not match your personality, go with gold colors on lips and eyes. Discover the new powders that highlight the face and diffuse skin perfections. Either way you go, try to have some fun with the new looks and make a change, even if it is just for a season!

Fad, Trend...or Classic Style?

As fashion evolves we often struggle with the decision to follow fashion or not. Understanding the categories of fashion is crucial to making a decision on your image.  Typical terms used are Fad, Trend, and or Classic. This blog we will discuss the "Fad" vs. Trend.

A fad is any form of behavior that develops among a large population and is collectively followed with enthusiasm for a short period, generally as a result of the behavior's being perceived as novel in some way. A fad is said to "catch on" when the number of people adopting it begins to increase rapidly. The behavior will normally fade quickly once the perception of novelty is gone.

Some people are considered a trendsetter because they start a fashion trend before most other people. So what is the difference between a fad and a trend. The difference is pretty simple. Fads are short-lived. Think of pet rocks and beanie babies. In fashion one fad that then became a trend that I think of is the mullet.

The mullet is a hairstyle that is short at the front and sides, and long in the back. The mullet began to appear in popular media in the 1960s and 1970s but did not become generally well-known until the early 1980s. It continued to be popular until the mid-1990s. Fads start with a personal discovery, followed by media attention and popularity, then followed by a mainstream of people.

Trends on the other hand have staying power. They may take longer to evolve and build momentum but they have staying power. Trends can last years, and even decades. People may use the terms somewhat in the same manner, but respect that a fad is temporary, and a trend can be last for years, even decades. When people think of what's hot they label them trends, or trendy.

Quite often what we consider a trend would really be better suited as a fad....
